About The Syndicate
Big city dining in a small, charming town, where history meets contemporary elegance in downtown Bellefontaine, Ohio.
From News Stand to Night Out
For nearly half a century, this corner of South Main Street belonged to Jackson's News Stand. From 1946 to 1993, it was where downtown Bellefontaine came for the morning paper and the daily gossip. When we opened The Syndicate, we kept the presses running in spirit: the name is a tip of the hat to the news syndicates whose stories once filled these racks.
Step inside and the history is everywhere: walls lined with Ohio newspapers from bygone eras, decorative artifacts from the newsstand days, and our centerpiece bar, custom-built from salvaged glass windows and topped with quartz like a New York-style news kiosk.
A Scratch Kitchen With Flair
Our chefs build every menu around fresh, gourmet ingredients: hand-cut steaks, house pastas, composed salads, and a brunch worth setting an alarm for. Behind the bar, our bartenders shake and stir craft cocktails that change with the seasons, alongside Ohio beers and a deep spirits list.
It's the kind of dining you'd expect to drive to Columbus or Dayton for, served right here in Logan County.
Dinner, Then a Show
Out back, The Backyard turns a night out into an occasion: live music under string lights, lawn games on the turf, patio dinners on warm evenings, and a stage that's hosted everything from country bands to comedy nights. It's downtown Bellefontaine's outdoor living room, and yes, you can rent the whole thing.
